Domestic Violence Domestic violence crimes are offences that take place between members of an intimate relationship like a marriage, common-law or other family settings like parent/child. Domestic Violence incidents are taken extremely seriously by the justice system and authorities. They make up the majority of violent offences, and they tend to occur within an ongoing cycle of abuse. Under the Saskatchewan justice system, the court offers a program called “Domestic Violence Treatment Program,” specifically designed for individuals who plead guilty to domestic violence offences. Participating in this program offered through Domestic Violence Court can have a positive effect on the consequences an accused may face. An accused may decide to participate in this program or opt to take the matter to trial.Regardless of your option, you’ll need someone on your side, an advocate who will ensure you are treated fairly.
