Parental Sponsorship 2019

Parental Sponsorship

Changes to the Parental Draw for 2019

Draw results for 2019 were announced on April 24, 2019.
If you missed it this year, you would need to enter the draw in January 2020.

To be eligible to sponsor you must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, be 18 years of age or older, meet or exceed the minimum necessary income requirement for Family Sponsorship, sign an undertaking agreement that commits you to provide financial support for your sponsored parents or grandparents and repay any provincial social assistance benefits paid to the sponsored family members for 20 years. If the sponsor lives in Quebec, an additional undertaking agreement must be signed.

As a Sponsor, you must provide Notices of Assessment from the CRA to IRCC to prove that they meet the minimum necessary income requirement.

If you do not qualify for Parental PR sponsorship because you do not meet the MNI for the three years, you can apply for a Super Visa as the income required is only for one year, and it is about 30% lower.
